Melissa W. Braveman, MD, FAAP
Melissa was raised in Maine but fell in love with the Bay Area during her first visit in 2000. She traded her snow shovel for sunglasses and headed West, where she attended medical school at UCSF, completed pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital Oakland (now UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital), and built a thriving practice at Menlo Medical Clinic before joining Burgess.
Melissa is passionate about combining up-to-the-minute medical research with an old-fashioned, personalized, family-centered approach. She is experienced at navigating complex medical systems to help families to receive exceptional, highly integrated care. Parents describe her as well-informed, warm, and funny–“as skilled with adolescents as with babies and toddlers.” She is most proud of one ten-year-old patient’s review: “She’s what a doctor should be.”
Melissa is invested in community outreach, education, and excellence in healthcare. She has presented at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, Palo Alto Medical Foundation, Sutter, Dignity Health, and to parenting groups within the community on a variety of pediatric topics. She has served on Sutter’s Perinatal Performance Improvement Committee and chaired the Pediatric Peer Review Committee at Dignity Health.
Melissa is delighted that being a part of Burgess allows her to help your children to become and remain as healthy as possible. She looks forward to getting to know you and encourages families considering joining Burgess, including expectant parents, to arrange to meet with her.
